Pяopaganda Alert

ABC Radio News does it again, broadcasting a one-sided report in favor of banning corporal punishment in public schools nationwide, while using a single case of abuse as though it were the rule. The story ended without ABC offering time to the opposing side.

The story centers on a Georgia girl who received severe corporal punishment by the school administration (leaving bruises) because she had allegedly worn sweatpants (presumably because this violated dress code). Now the objective mind might ask how likely something like that would be to even happen once, if often, and certainly often and in thousands of schools across the country. But you’re not called upon to be objective here, but emotional. You are supposed to feel outraged. As with the Anita Hill episode during Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ confirmation hearings, it is enough to have made the accusation (if you are a liberal making accusations for a liberal cause – Conservatives, don’t try this at home).

But this report obviously leaves several questions unanswered:

Does everyone agree with the evidence supporting the Georgia student’s case?

And if so, is it reasonable to extrapolate this is a common occurrence in every school?

And if it is a common occurrence, is it Constitutional for Congress to set policies regarding corporal punishment within the states?

I am not a professional journalist and even I have in the matter of a few seconds come up with a few juicy-sounding questions that would at least make my report look impartial. So what gives?

Well, for starters, we know there’s a liberal bias because of the classic liberal arguing point: if it happens once it’s enough (argument strangely absent whenever the thing askew was made so by a liberal). If you tell a liberal broccoli is healthful to eat, a liberal might retort, “But my cousin’s best friend ate broccoli once and choked to death! What do you have to say about that, you hate-monger right-wing anti-breathing monster?” Incidentally, liberals are famous for straining out gnats and letting camels through: If you tell a liberal, “You know, Mao slaughtered and starved over 70 million of his own countrymen.” A liberal might respond, “Why do you hate progress? Sure, Mao made some mistakes, but his intentions were good ones. It was just carried out poorly”.

At any rate, we also know that the report has a liberal slant because of the template:

1. Traditional disciplinary technique is evil (part of the patriarchal oppressive capitalist system, no doubt)

2. BIG federal government is the only hope to truly fix this travesty.

We also know it is liberal because of the content of its message: Corporal punishment is abuse; we must ban corporal punishment in schools (for starters).

And lastly, we know it has a liberal bias because it is ABC News.

That's great, especially the examples of broccoli and Mao. Every word is true.
