Quote of the Day: Livy

Justum est bellum, quibus necessarium; et pia arma, quibus nulla nisi in armis relinquitur opes.

(To those to whom war is necessary it is just; and a resort to arms is righteous in those to whom no means of assistance remain except by arms.)

Titus Livius (Livy) (59 BC-17 AD) History of Rome (bk. IX, 1)

I know this seems to contradict directly what the wise and honorable sage Kofi Annan has expressed with respect to Israel’s right to defend herself against bombardments of hundreds of missiles daily deliberately targeted at civilians, but, for the sake of argument, I thought I would share it nonetheless. Since such thinking might also conflict with the UN money trail (res ipsa loquitur), I doubt it will gather much traction.
