Kennedy Makes Splash at Local College

Feeling a bit like a fish out of water, a liberal (Ted Kennedy) was actually interrupted by a heckler for a change as he spoke at a college campus yesterday.

And he was heckled by one of his own – a liberal (albeit, a lib with a conscience).

Sen. Kennedy was speaking at a Massachusetts community college, says WorldNet Daily, when Paul Trost, 20, shouted “Remember Chappaquiddick!” as he walked out in disgust.

Apparently of the belief that heckling is only protected speech when it is used against conservative speakers on campus the audience gasped in horror.

Trost noted that what disgusted him was not just the whole Chappaquiddick episode in Kennedy’s life, but how Mass. Democrat congressman Stephen Lynch introduced the senator. “Lynch said Kennedy had overcome such adversity to get to the place he was, and that's a bunch of bull”, which lead Trost to leave and make his exiting comment.

But clearly Ted (the only Kennedy to stay alive by sacrificing a virgin to the drink) is the victim here. Sure Mary Jo Kopechne’s dead, but her pain is over. But Ted has to live with the agony of having been humiliated by the whole thing, wondering if the embarrassment will ever end.

Fortunately for Trost, the school has decided not to punish him for what libs always tell us is free speech. But it didn’t look so much like a done deal at first. Campus police followed him outside, took down his name and told him he would be sent to the gallows for his outburst. Trost also was later harassed by one of his professors for daring to question one of the sacred Buddhas of liberalism (The Pot-belly Ted).

So there you have it, a liberal heckled and it took another liberal to do it. And liberal academicians aren't very happy about it. Not exactly the same kind of academic attitude about students who heckled Ann Coulter, Bill Kristol or Justice Antonin Scalia, which was largely a wink and a nod, of course.

You may recount how one student interrupted Justice Scalia’s speech at a NYU Law School visit last year with, "Do you sodomize your wife?" As far as I was able to find, no disciplinary action by the school was taken.

The NYU school paper reported that “although the group had initially negotiated with the dean to protest inside the Vanderbilt Hall courtyard, protesters cited their right to assemble on public sidewalks and refused to move,” for which there also was no disciplinary action taken and not a single over-bearing campus rent-a-cop to take down names and make threats of summary judgment.

But liberals assure us they are still the protectors of free speech (and the freedom to be offensive), just not when it comes to Ted Kennedy or Mohammed.

VALUE-ADDED: The above Kennedy pic comes to you c/o Theodore's World blog.
