Je Suis Napoleon Bonaparte Ruler of Iraq!

 

 

Saddam lashed out at his accusers today, denouncing the trial and attempting to inspire his small faithful among the viewers. The Chaldean exclaimed, “Long live Iraq! Long live the Arab state”. – the latter that Iraq was an Arab state might have come as a shock to many of Iraq’s local inhabitants.

 

At any rate, as Saddam ranted on, another Iraqi stood up and began to shout down Saddam with “Long live Iraqi Democracy!” –or something to that effect, which was somehow missed by the AP wire (I happened to have watched it unfold).

 

My guess is that Iraqis, if asked, would for the most part more readily identify themselves as democrats than Arabs, but perhaps Saddam (et al) didn’t get the memo.
