For All The Neigh-Sayers Out There

I spent my weekend at the Fort Worth Trinity River Horse Trials as mandated by my horse trainer to watch and root for the home team. The Trinity River Horse Trials is a three-day event featuring riders both junior and adult from around the region competing both in jumping and dressage.

These shows are always a great deal of fun, but the perfect weather made it an ideal outing even for the non-horsed among us.

Well, almost ideal: one junior rider took an unfortunate spill (click for video) when the horse veered suddenly. But aside from bruised egos and being disqualified from the event, the good news is the munchkin and horse lived to do battle another day. The well-trained equine stopped immediately when her human came off, which was especially important here since the young rider (helmeted and flack-jacketed) was deposited in front of the ride.
